Beachfront Living in Barcelona + Dub Reggae Night

Michael flew back to Barcelona with me on Monday and we got in around 7pm from Oslo. We take the train into the city and stay the night at Guillem's apartment, and then on Tuesday morning we pack up and head down to Barceloneta, which is the beachfront neighborhood - very old school and cool. We got an apartment off AirBnB and although it's only one-bedroom, it's really nice and all the finishes are updated. You literally cannot beat our location - a half block from the best part of the beach. We also have a rooftop terrace that looks at the ocean. Unfortunately it's raining all of Tuesday, so we really can't enjoy it too much, but we hang in the apartment, go shopping for food, and check out the neighborhood. I make a huge pasta lunch and we enjoy it while reminiscing about our time in Oslo. Karla, who I hung out with before leaving for Oslo, invited me and Michael over for a drink so we go to her apartment and meet a friend of hers, Carolina (also a doctor from Peru). She makes Pisco sours which are AMAZING, and we sit and talk for a bit. Karla's dad is coming in from Peru today, and Karla will be traveling in Europe with him for the next two weeks. She's extremely excited because this is the first time her dad has been to Europe. We have some drinks and Karla makes this amazing appetizer, and then she and Carolina head to the airport to get Karla's dad and me and Michael head back towards our apt.

Previously I talked about the dub/reggae jam session here in Barcelona on Tuesday nights at a club called Bart's, and I had to take Michael to show him while he's here in town. We head over there around 11pm, and the place is already packed. A lot of the same musicians and people I saw two weeks ago when I was here, and everyone with the same amazing energy. I speak with a few of the musicians and exchange info to stay in touch. Karla, Carolina, and Karla's dad all come to Bart's as well, and it's fun to have a little dance crew. Lots of laughs and dancing, and around 1am everyone heads home. A perfect end to our first day living on the beach. Granted, there wasn't any sun, but we still managed to have a nice day :)

Our first lunch in the new apt.
